Biography(Piano/bass Tea Party Member)
Alchemic rock group the Tea Party banded in 1991 in the Detroit/Windsor area by three long-time friends, Jeff Martin, Stuart Chatwood and Jeff Burrows. Combining a plethora of instrumentation, elements of rock 'n' roll and electronica, the Tea Party is expanding the boundaries of pop music and appealing to a variety of listeners.
The trio decided to name the band after the infamous hash sessions of famous Beat Generation poets Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac and William Burroughs. In 1991 they released their self-titled debut on an independent label. It was followed by the eclectic, Splendor Solis, which featured a fine blend of Eastern tunings and Western trends.
1995's exotic The Edges of Twilight features 31 musical instruments gathered from the band's travels around the world. The album received rave reviews and the Tea Party was added to 1995's Lollapalooza bill. They were rewarded with three Juno nominations and a Much Music Video Award.
